Sri Gurudev, I now proceed to describe the untarnished glory or Sri
Rama, the most excellent of Raghu's, which bestows the four fruits. |

hiina tanu jaani ke Sumirau pavana kumaar Bala buddhi vidyaa dehu mohi harahu kelesha vikaara Realizing the inadequacy of my intellect, I meditate on you, O Hanuman, the son of the wind-god; grant me strength, intelligence & true knowledge, and remove all my afflictions and blemishes |

Jay hanumaan gyaana guna saagar Victory to you, O Hanuman, the ocean of wisdom & virtue. Victory to you O Hanuman, lord of monkeys & the enlightener of the 3 worlds.

Raam duut atulit bal dhaamaa You are the messenger of Sri Rama, abode of immeasurable strength, and son of Anjana, and are also known as 'Pavanasuta', son of the wind-god.

Mahaabiir bikram bajarangii Kumati nivaar sumati ke sangii You are a great hero with exceptional valor with body as strong as the thunderbolt. You are dispeller of unwholesome thoughts and a companion of good sense & wisdom

Kanchan baran biraaj subeshaa
Kaanan kundal kuncit keshaa You are of golden color and you wear fine clothes. You wear shining ear-rings and have beautiful curly hair. |

Haath bajra au dhvajaa biraajai, Kaandhe muunj janeuu saajai You have the thunderbolt & flag in hand, whilst the sacred thread across your shoulder is made of sacred grass.

Shankar suvan keshariinandan,
Teja prataap mahaa jag vandan You are an incarnation of Shiva and son of Keshari, and you are adored by the whole world on account of your radiance and courage. |

Vidyaavaan gunii ati chaatur, Raam kaaj kavibe ko aatur

8) Prabhu caritra sunibe ko rasiyaa, Raam lashan siitaa mana basiyaa You delight in listening to the glories of God and you have Rama, Lakshmana and Sita residing in your heart.

Suksma ruup dhari siyahi dikhaavaa You assumed a subtle form when your revealed yourself to Sita; and by assuming an awesome form you burnt the city of Lanka

Bhiim ruup dhari asur sahaare, Then you assumed a gigantic form and destroyed the demons, thereby accomplishing the mission of Sri Rama. |

Laay sajiivan lakhan jiyaaye,

Raghupati kiinhii bahut badaaii, Rama extolled you greatly and declared you to be as dear to him as his brother Bharata. |

sahas badan tumharo yas gaavai, Taking you into his embrace, Sri Rama stated that even Seshnag, the thousand headed serpent, sings your glory. |

sanakaadik brahmaadi muniisaa, The sages Sanaka, Sanatana, Sanandana and Sanat Kumara, Brahma and the other gods, Siva, Narada, Sarasvati and Seshnag...

Yam kuber digapaal jahaa te, Yama, the god of death, Kubera, the god of wealth, Digpalas, the guardian deities, poets, and scholars have all failed to describe your glory adequately. |

Tum upkaar sugriivahi kiinhaa, You rendered an invaluable service to Sugriva by introducing him to Sri Rama and restoring him to the throne.

Tumharo mantra vibhiisan maanaa The whole world knows that Vibhishana heeded your advice and became lord of Lanka

Yug sahasra yojan par bhaanuu,

Prabhu mudrikaa meli mukh maahi jaladhi laadhi gaye acaraj naahi Carrying Sri Rama's ring in your mouth, you crossed the ocean, there is no wonder in that (because of your previous deeds).

Durgam kaaj jagat ke jete, sugam anugrah tumhare tete All the difficult tasks of the world are rendered easily possible by your grace. |

21)
Raama duaare tuma rakhavaare You are the gate-keeper of Sri Rama's kingdom, where none may enter without your permission. |

Saba sukh lahai tumhaarii sarnaa, |

Aapana teja samhaaro aapai, You alone are able to control your vital energy; all three worlds tremble before your power.

Bhuuta pisaacha nikatha nahi aavai, |

Naasai roga harai saba piiraa, japata nirantara hanumata biiraa All diseases are destroyed and pains vanish when your powerful name is repeated incessantly (with one pointed mind). |

Sankata se hanumaana chudaavai, mana krama bacana dhyaana jo laavai Hanuman frees from difficulties all those who contemplate upon him in thought, word and deed. |

Saba para raama tapasvii raajaa tina ke kaaja sakala tuma saajaa You fulfilled all the missions of Sri Rama who fulfils the desires of devotees engaged in penance. |
28)
Aur manoratha jo koi laavai soi amita jiivan phala paavai Devotees may have any other desires, they will ultimately secure the imperishable fruit (realization of the highest reality). |

Chaaron yuga parataapa tumhaaraa hai parasiddha jagata ujiyaaraa Your glory prevails in all four ages; and your fame radiates throughout the world. |

Saadhu sant ke tum rakhavaare, asura nikandan raam dulaare You are the protector of the saints and sages, and, beloved of Rama, you destroy the demons (ie evil forces). |

31)
Ashta siddhi nav nidhi ke daataa as bar diin jaanakii maataa Mother Sita granted you the boon that you will be the bestower of the eight powers and the nine wealths. |
32)
Raam rasaayan tumhare paasaa, sadaa raho raghupati ke daasaa The essence of devotion to Sri Rama is with you; may you always be the servant of him. |

Tumhare bhajan raam ko paavai, janma janma ke dukh bisaraavai Through devotion to you one obtains Sri Rama and life times of sorrow are swept away. |
34)
Ant kaal raghupati pur jaaii jaha janma hari bhakta kahaaii At the end of a lifespan of such devotion one goes to the abode of Sri Rama and is there known as a devotee of God. |

Aur devataa citta na dharaii, hanumat seii sarva sukh karaii All happiness is granted even to that devotee who worships no other deity apart from Hanuman. |
36)
Sankat harai mitai sab piiraa jo sumirai hanumat bal biiraa All difficulties and pains are removed for those who contemplate on the all-powerful Hanuman. |

Jai jai jai hanumaan gosaaii kripaa karahu gurudev kii naaii Victory, victory, victory to you, O Hanuman; as our supreme guru, give us grace. |
38)
Jo shat baar paath kar joi, chuutahi bandi mahaasukh hoii He who recites this chalisa a hundred times (with devotion) is sure to be freed from worldly bondage and enjoy great happiness. |

Jo yah padhai hanumaan caaliisaa hoy siddhi saakhii gauriisaa He who reads the Hanuman Chalisa (and follows its precepts) will become perfect, as Siva is the witness. |

Tulasiidaas sadaa hari ceraa, kiijai naath hrday mah deraa Tulasidas who is always the servant of God prays that the Lord resides in his heart. |
